Yesterday, my youngest son graduated. It is done.  I am 3 for 3 and could not be prouder.  But yesterday held tears and really was a slice of life so very bitter sweet. They are all grown.  No more young boys with their loudness and laughter; no more basketball slamming the pavement in the wee hours on a Sunday morning; no more finding the mags in the mattress, bottom of the closet buried, even a drain pipe once. The story of how it got there .... priceless.  I am not having empty nest syndrome, the nest has been empty for a while. It is that this graduation really placed a period in this chapter in my life.

I have been letting them go little by little for years so I would be prepared for this, but that does not stop the feeling, the missing what was...

Well I need to follow Adam's lead and put first my right foot, then my left foot, and move forward. A new chapter is already being written. I need to be present and aware, and grab with both hands my now...I would sure hate to miss any of it by trying to live in my past by wishing for what was.
